Hello Beautiful Beaders,
Exciting news! The government has confirmed that we can re-open on Monday the 15th of June, in accordance with stringent government safety guidelines.
We’ve completed a thorough risk assessment of the shop and our processes. This has lead us to implement lots of new procedures to keep customers and staff safe. Here’s the low down of what to expect in our new normal:-
1. Opening Times
To begin with we are going to open from 10-2pm, Monday to Saturday. We will be closed on Sundays.
It may be possible to visit at other times by appointment only. Please use our contact form here to make an enquiry.
2. Limited Customers and In Store Social Distancing
Only four customers will be allowed in store at any one time. Once we are at capacity we will work on a ‘one in, one out’ basis. Please be aware that during busy times you may have to wait in line outside the store. With this in mind be sure to check the weather and bring appropriate clothing/protection, i.e. sun screen or an umbrella!
If waiting outside you will be asked to keep a 2 metre minimum distance between you and the next customer. The same rule applies in store and we will be relying on you guys to help maintain this rule.
3. Hand Sanitiser
On arrival into the store you will be provided with hand sanitiser to clean your hands with. You must use the sanitiser before you enter. Should you require it, sanitiser can also be made available at the exit.
To try to minimise the spread of germs once your hands have been sanitised we kindly ask that you try not to touch your face during your visit. We also ask you to try not to handle a product unless you wish to purchase it. If you have a question about the product then our staff will as always be on hand to assist you.
4. One Way System
Once inside the store you will see that we have installed a one way system for customers to follow. The route will take you around the shop and ensure that you don’t miss any of your favourite items.
Obviously we’d like you to enjoy your visit and, while we don’t want to rush you around, we do ask that you be mindful of time spent in store during busy periods.
5. Acrylic Shield
Some very clever people have adapted our till point to make it Covid-19 safe. It now has a protective shield wrapped around it, so you can feel safe when it comes to paying for your goods.
6. Toilets
Unfortunately there will not be any toilet facilities accessible for the foreseeable future. We are very sorry that our lack of convenience causes you inconvenience but sadly there is just no way to make this safe for public use. We hope you will kindly understand.
7. Things We Need YOU To Help With
There’s a couple of important things we ask of you when you come to Riverside Beads and Crafts please.
Firstly please don’t think about visiting us if you or anyone in your household is unwell. If you are exhibiting even mild symptoms of cold or flu then you need to save lives by staying home.
The second thing is that children must be supervised at all times. Ideally if you have small children then please can they be kept in their pushchair or pram. Kids cannot be left to run around the store. Please also don’t allow your kids to handle the products unless you are going to purchase them please.
So that’s the low down of the new Riverside normal. I hope you will find these changes all positive steps. Our priority is to keep you and our staff safe as we ease back into retail life. We are really looking forward to seeing you all, we’ve really missed those smiling faces!
To say welcome back I’d like to offer all blog readers a special discount. When you come into the shop please bring a copy of this voucher, or show it to us on your phone, and you’ll get an extra 10% off of all purchases at the till (please note that the voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any other discounted offers such as 3 for 2 or sale items). If you don’t live nearby then you can still claim your discount by calling the store and ordering over the telephone quoting ‘Blog Offer Voucher’.
To finish this week’s tome I thought I’d show you a blast from my past. My Mum Gaynor found an old poem of mine that I wrote when I was just 8 years old. It is about rainbows 🌈. Just because the clapping on Thursdays has stopped we shouldn’t forget the hard working and dedicated doctors and nurses. They are selflessly and tirelessly working around the clock to treat the many people still suffering with Covid-19 and I hope my little poem pays some small kind of tribute to them all.
Stay home if you can, stay safe if you do venture out, stay happy and stay Beading!

We want it to be a relaxed shopping experience even with the current restrictions, it’s all going well so far and we are adjusting to the new ways 🙂
