I hope you’ve all had a lovely month and managed to get outside and enjoy the fleeting heatwave that we had.
It’s been great to see a few more of you venturing out of your homes since my last blog. I hope that my reassurances of our store safety practises played some small part in that new confidence.
This month, to further encourage community confidence and support for our area, I thought I would give you a run down of my favourite local stores and a taste of the essential products they provide:-
1. Market Deeping Antiques and Craft Centre – Market Deeping
Most of you will know that this amazing treasure trove of a store used to be the original Riverside HQ. We’ve still got a small outlet unit in there so it’s worth a rummage to see what bargains you can find.
Aside from us there’s a myriad of products from Antiques and collectibles to home decoration, knitting supplies and models.
They are operating a one way system and a the store is very large there is lots of safe space for customers to have a stress free browse.
Excellent destination for gifts and home and lighting decor if you want to avoid the busy city stores.
They do not have a website but you can find them on Facebook.
2. Branch Brothers Hardware Store – Deeping Saint James
Branch Bros is literally down the road from Riverside Beads and Crafts. They are a small franchise of hardware stores selling anything from roofing felt, paint and wood to small machinery and practicality every kind of sealant you can imagine!
They are offering counter/door service for smaller collection orders only. It is best to call and place your order over the phone and then arrange a collection time. Alternatively they are also delivering goods. General visiting is partially accessible for viewing items, with social distancing in place and a limited number of people allowed in store at any one time.
Larger yard/timber collections should be pre-ordered in advance, by telephone to each Branch.
Thing to remember; they are not currently accepting cash. Card payments only.
Having spent a lot more time at home these past few months I think we all appreciate the comfort of a good bed! These guys have been in business for more than 30 years and they really know their stuff.
Buying a bed or mattress isn’t really something you can do well over the internet so it is nice to know there is a local, safe place to shop. They offer free delivery within 25 miles of Market Deeping and they will take away your old bed/mattress too.
They’ve got a huge amount of stock to choose from and most items can be delivered the very same day you purchase. None of that waiting two weeks malarkey!
While I’m talking about all things yummy I can’t go without mentioning my favourite wine bar Nottys.
Their beautiful abode is a haven of relaxation and fine wine. If the grape isn’t your tipple then they have lots of other drinks from juices to ales on offer. Light bites include olive trays and sharing platters for a taste of the Mediterranean in little old Lincolnshire!
They are Covid-safe with clear screens between tables and they also have some outside seating space.
I couldn’t finish without mentioning us – we sell a huge range of products from fabric, enamel and acrylic paints, felt and fabrics, beads, findings, cord, sewing supplies (including elastic and Velcro), paper, card, specialist glues and inks, feathers, buttons, charms, art supplies, wooden and polystyrene items, stationery, gift wrap and honestly so much more. (Catches breath!)
With our one way system, hand sanitiser, two meter distancing markers and expert staff on hand to assist you, we are ready and waiting to make your retail experience a safe and happy one.
We are also wheelchair and buggy friendly.
You can visit us in store or online, make telephone order or arrange a personal appointment to come in and shop if you are elderly or vulnerable. www.riversidebeads.co.uk

I hope that’s whet your appetite for venturing out safely and visiting your local stores. If you don’t live locally to Market Deeping then why not hop on the interweb and look for similar shops in your area. I’ll bet you they are there just waiting for you to find them!
Before I go I must mention a very important fact….there are only 123 shopping days to…..CHRISTMAS! There you go, I said it. Lol
In all seriousness I think for a lot of people it’s going to be a handmade Christmas this year. We’ve found ourselves with so much more time on our hands so why not have a go? Handmade gifts are so much nicer and usually more appreciated too.
Take a look at our great kits to get you started or take an online workshop to hone your skiils. Our outdoor workshops at The Granary have been going really well and we can’t thank them enough for becoming a valued Riverside partner. For more information about those classes click here.
If you already know what to make then just give us a call and we can put together an order of your required components and post it out to you or arrange a collection time at the store.
That’s all from me this month. Stay safe and stay happy.
