Join our talented glass artists, Bev and John, for a colourful and creative experience. During this beginner-friendly class, you will make your own beautiful stained glass butterfly light catcher to hang and enjoy at home.

You will learn the traditional Tiffany method, also known as copper foiling. This technique joins individual pieces of coloured glass to create stunning decorative designs.

First, Bev and John will show you how to cut and grind glass safely. Next, you will learn how to apply copper foil to the edges. You will then solder your pieces together before finishing your butterfly ready to hang.

You can also choose from a selection of coloured glass to personalise your butterfly. As a result, every finished design will have its own unique character.

This relaxed workshop lasts approximately 3–4 hours. No previous stained glass experience is needed, as your tutors will guide you through every stage.

Whether you come with friends or join us on your own, you can enjoy learning a new skill in our friendly Riverside classroom.

Age Restrictions: Suitable for ages 14 and over. Participants aged 14–16 must be accompanied by an adult.

What to Wear and Safety Information

During this workshop, you will work with glass, heat, solder and chemicals. Therefore, all participants must follow the safety guidance provided by Bev and John.

• Safety gloves, protective glasses and aprons will be provided.
• Please wear closed-toe shoes. Open-toe footwear is not permitted.
• Wear suitable clothing that you do not mind getting marked.
• Follow all safety instructions throughout the session.
• Due to the lead content in the solder, this workshop is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Your tutors will explain each process and demonstrate how to use the tools safely before you begin.
