Colour Me Happy Stained Glass Workshop

Discover the colourful world of glass art at our abstract stained glass workshop at Riverside Beads & Crafts in Market Deeping, near Peterborough.

Join our talented glass artists, Bev and John, for a creative workshop where you will make your own colourful, abstract stained glass light catcher.

During this hands-on class, you will learn the traditional copper foiling method, also known as the Tiffany method. This popular technique joins individual pieces of glass to create beautiful decorative designs.

Bev and John will guide you through each stage. First, you will learn how to cut and grind glass safely. Next, you will apply copper foil to the edges before soldering the pieces together. Finally, you will finish your design ready to hang and enjoy at home.

The workshop lasts approximately 3–4 hours, from 10am until around 1pm–2pm. You will have plenty of guidance throughout the session.

No previous stained glass experience is needed. Therefore, this workshop is ideal for complete beginners who would like to discover a new craft.

Come along with friends or join us on your own. Either way, you can enjoy a relaxed and friendly creative experience while learning something new.

Location: Riverside Beads & Crafts, Market Deeping, Peterborough

Tutors: Bev and John

Skill Level: Beginners welcome

Duration: Approximately 3–4 hours

Workshop Time: 10am–1pm/2pm

Includes: All glass, materials, use of tools, expert tuition and protective equipment

Refreshments: Hot and cold drinks available

Age Restrictions: Suitable for ages 14 and over. Anyone aged 14–16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Group Bookings: Private group bookings are also available.

What to Wear and Safety Information

During this workshop, you will work with glass, heat, solder and chemicals. Therefore, everyone must follow the safety instructions provided by Bev and John.

• Safety gloves, protective glasses and aprons will be provided.
• Please wear closed-toe shoes. Open-toe footwear is not permitted.
• Wear suitable clothing that you do not mind getting marked.
• You are welcome to bring your own apron, although we have aprons available.
• You must follow all safety guidance throughout the workshop.
• Due to the lead content in the solder, this workshop is not suitable for anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding.

Your tutors will demonstrate each technique and explain how to use the equipment safely before you begin.
