Hello Beautiful Beaders,
Happy new year to you all. How is 2020 treating you so far? Or are you off the treats and on a new year, new you health kick? I know that many of my friends are off the choccies and on the treadmill this January.
While they are getting ready for some marathon or other it got me thinking. If they can train for a sporty marathon why can’t I train for a crafty marathon? And thus our newest endeavour was born…..the Riverside 24 hour Craftathon!!
Forget leg warmers and plasters, we’ll be needing thimbles and reading glasses to help flex our crafting muscles. It’s going to be so much fun, but definitely not for the faint hearted. 24 hours is a big commitment….so I hope you are ready!
It’s part of our birthday celebrations on Saturday the 25th of April. Can you believe we’ve been in our new store for nearly three years? Time flies when you’re truly having fun!
Craftathon 24hour Event
Anyway the Craftathon starts at 9am that morning and finishes at 9am the following day. It’s all being organised in aid of the Sue Ryder
hospice charity. We aim to make loads of money for them and have a ball at the same time! We need you to get involved so keep your eyes peeled on our Facebook page and newsletters for further information. If you don’t receive either of those updates then pop in store or call us for more detail.
Our other new charity venture is going to be our monthly démonstration days. We will be holding them on the last Saturday of each month.
These fabulous days will run from 10am to 3pm and are designed to inspire you with free demonstrations plus mini ‘make and takes’. Every session will showcase a different technique from the world of creativity. These include cardmaking, jewellery making and lots of other crafty techniques.
Bees Wax Wrap Kit
Now you all know my passion for all things eco friendly, and this is going to shine through in my demonstration days. Just for starters you’ll see how to make bees wax wraps, eco tumble dryer balls and even aromatherapy crafts. I’m SO excited!
Eco Tumble Dryer Balls
If you don’t already know; a ‘make an take’ is a mini class that you can take part in, and you take away whatever you make. There be a small charge for these (materials dependant), but it’s all donated to the Sue Ryder charity, so it’s all for a good cause. The average price of a ‘make and take’ is normally around £5. So it’s a really low cost way to learn a new skill. Some may be available to book in advance online although we will obviously be happy to try and fit in ‘walk-ins’ as well.

Each day will also feature a wonderful charity raffle, tombola and a preloved craft sale. We’ve had some amazing donations of products in from you guys, thank you so much. We thought we would share the love and offer you the chance to buy them (bargains!!) and also some preloved crafts too. All proceeds with be donated to the charity.
