Getting To Know Your Sewing Machine Workshop
Our Sewing Machine Workshop is available for small in store classes. Join our sewing workshop with Judi. Set in our bespoke class room in our beading shop in Market Deeping, Peterborough.
Have you recently become the owner of a sewing machine or do you have one that you’d love to learn to use with confidence? Is your machine not quite behaving as it should and you feel it could do better but you don’t know how to fix it?
This workshop could be for you! We’ll cover all of the following and you’ll get a useful little booklet to take home with you as well as get to practise stitches on your machine and make a useful little card-sized wallet.
Content includes: Before you start sewing, how to clean and look after your machine including
Dusting, areas you can clean and how to get to them
Oiling & servicing
Bobbin and bobbin race
Buttons, gadgets & gizmo’s on your machine
Presser feet and their uses
Needles
Threads
Getting ready to sew
Threading your machine
Tensions
Using different stitches
Pins and other ways of securing your fabric (tape, glue, clips etc)
Practice sewing with your machine.
Beginning and ending your stitching, straight lines and corners.
Try out different stitches.
You may work towards making a small-fold wallet/card holder to take home.
Judi is an experienced sewing tutor and has been running classes with Riverside for a few years. During the class we will guide you through the process of getting to know your machine . Giving you the skills to use and also maintain your machine too.
What you need to know:-
- Please bring your machine you wish to use on the day
- We have fabric to use or feel free to bring your own
- We have a range of essential machine items in store if you need to purchase anything on the day
- Held instore at our bead and craft shop.
