Kumihimo is a transportable craft so once you have mastered the basics of placing your braids over the disc in different formations to make a variety of patterns and motifs, you can create kumihimo jewellery wherever you go.
Getting started with the Starter Kumihimo Braided Kit makes it easy to discover the ancient art of braiding cords. This starter kit includes a disk, an assortment of satin cord and also 8 bobbins to wrap surplus cord around. Â

7 Braid Kumihimo
The new arrival of the 7 Braid Kumihimo Disk and Kit is here. This new disk, also known as as ‘fill the gap’ or 7 Strand Kumihimo, has been designed and manufactured by the team at Riverside Beads.
The flower shaped disk offers a simpler way to create 7 Strand Braided Kumihimo designs. The disk only has eight slots instead of 32 on a standard round Kumihimo disk. This new disk is marked with numbers one to eight to guide you as you work with your seven strands of cord.
The new kit will teach you how to braid with a satin cord and will also introduce beads to your braiding. The kit features 7 braiding patterns to develop your braiding using assorted size 8 seed beads.
